it seems i might be able to communicate something through cloth making. i hope so. this blog is a personal journey into gift giving and story cloth. one step at a time. and diversions along the way.

stitching hugs

Recycled_heart thank you, all of you for your comments on my last post. i started answering everyone individually but i just couldn't keep up!....my take it further challenge for january, has taken shape as something to hold as well as something held... i chose a pillow because it is a source of comfort which i needed to take further. i chose the heart for the simplicity of the symbol which i want to take further. i did a bit of what-iffing on the technique....and i am moving forward with a heart pillow, wrapped , woven and patched, with rough edges and memories, a symbol of ...as someone put it...love remains.
i started with simple heart strings, knotted together. red velvet was laid unbound as the base over the pillow form so it peeks through the strings of story. like some sort of regenerating red moss.Heart_strings_3 Hearts_edge

it looks very comforting. excellent style.

love the colors...the velvet peeking through and the woven heart strings...and the raw edges...

i was thinking about damask darning for your patched heart. i might even try to learn how to do it myself.

lovely and a beautiful dedication to your beloved father. hearts, thoughts and blessing to you all.

A wonderful technique, and incredibly appropriate for the theme. I love your pillow, and the fabrics used. A mixture and melding of patterns and textures fits so very well.

And I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing. Warm thoughts to you and your family. (And a hug! *hugs you* )

Thanks Jude for the comment over on my blog... I love your TIF contribution - sometimes I can't decide what I like the most about your blog - the words of description or the pictures showing what you do with textiles...

Your heart is such as fitting tribute to you dad... Love - like - moss does keep regenerating - and spreading...

Take care now xxx

As usual I feel tongue tied and at a loss for words at seeing the beautiful artistry that you do.

I'm thinking of you and your family during this sad time.

Beautiful sentiments. Do I remember correctly that the piece in the background was for your mother? They make a wonderful pair.
