stitching in the curve
this piece is rooted in a cycle, a circle, a spiral. something that goes round and round. maybe i should have chosen a circle shape. but the rectangle also creates a nice boundary/challenge to work against. i ended up adding a wonderful selvedge scrap from a double woven gauze. because of its loose weave, i was able to bend it to conform to the curve of one of the circles. double weaves are great because you can cut them ragged and they really hold together. the layers hug each other.
the radiating patches of red are a marvelous textured weave gifted from Laurraine at Patchwork Pottery.
words are forming slowly and i have chosen to start with some script because of its curved softness, and i am couching some of Sara's great hand dyed thread...couching, while stitching, has a great spiral motion that fits to the mood here. the script has me doubling back and i love where two rows of couching come together. i am making a note of that.
