it is a bit cooler today, after a morning walk, attention was turned to the copper pot on the wood stove. i am thinking about india flint, and how she has shared her wonderful discoveries. how nice that is. how much closer i feel to her after slowly absorbiing this eco color idea. i like how open ended her book is. how it fills you with curiosity and possibility. there is no recipe for that. it is an idea. a thought caught and generously shared. a gift. and it makes sense. i look forward to her second book for the same reason.
and so i wondered, what if, since i am not a fan of floral, what if i cut the onion skins into shapes, dots maybe? i did. and scattered them around (actually stitched them in place) on some old silk, (soaked the skins a bit to make them more pliable), folded the cloth in half, wrapped around a tin can with some string. steamed it for a while, soaked it in some pomegranate/oak. tea, sludge for a while. quite a while. the white dots resulted from some waxy leaves cut in similar fashion to act as a resist.
i can't tell you how much possibility just opened up with this one. a thought of mine seeded by a thought of hers. lovely really. grand. i thank her for that.
