I sat in the middle, and pulled the cloth toward me, around me. As if to make a nest, A bowl to hold me. Just to see if the cloth could gather. If the feel was right. It feels right. Today I will stitch on the center. Secure it a bit more. Give it substance. A special energy space. Like the eye of a storm. I suppose if you could find a safe place in a storm, yet be right in it, close enough to touch it you might be able to understand it. Respect it. Ride it. Love it even.
The magic feather cloth gets stitched on in the evenings, now that the days are filled with gardening. And I have noticed how much this cloth seems like a nest when it is at rest on a chair or a couch. How much fun it is to see all the feathers in my lap as I stitch. Each way it falls seems like a new gathering.
I have begun to pin the remaining feathers up on the wall today. And there are many. Just as I begin, I think to myself how there seems to be an endless supply of them. The basket never seems empty. As if they have continued to fly in while I sleep. Maybe there are Magic Feather Elves. Thank you all you Piece Makers.

There is truly significance for me, for this project, in the bringing of all these pieces together. The challenge of making one piece, one peace, from the diversity in approach, highlighting the One-ness in intention. And so blending is my focus. But still honoring the individual creativity of the maker.
This video was made during Spirit Cloth Diaries, when I was planning the wings and the blending process....
There is such a journey ahead of me still. UN-stitching the edges, reweaving them into a web with a bit of my own techniques touching them all. And another layer of feathers to add in between things. Weaving them in as well I think, where I can. There are still so many feathers here.
I once imagined, that all these little feathers, might fly in and touch one another in some special way, with my help. And through some sort of sympathetic evolution, would transform into some new vision that might change the way we see one another. Create a new sense of Home for those among us that need shelter from the storm.
I am sorry that many folks are having problems commenting. It is a Typepad issue and I cannot fix it. Maybe just an opportunity for some quiet time :-)
Today just looking at the scale, the reach, the full spectrum, the spin. And planning some refinement to keep the flight path open. Can you see it? The space . The ring of vision . Through.
So I am still filling in the wing span. I should be done with the darker/ blue side later today. Yes, it takes a long time to hand stitch all these pieces to the surface. But I have stopped focusing on how long it takes. I am enjoying it. Because really, so much has been done in the last days. It feels like a Cloth.
Sort of a Blue- Grey day here. Inside and outside. A batch of veggie burgers was a weekend priority. And an opportunity for some black bean dyeing. I soaked cotton, linen and silk scrap. Varying lengths of time. 1-3 days. Soy milk mordant. A piece of copper pipe toward the end. Nice color really, and so nice to use the waste water. Maybe I will sew up a little dye sampler and leave it to fade. Or not. The best is to witness for oneself. I guess you can get a bluer blue with alum. But this is fine. I will play a bit with the next batch of beans needed here. And try some wool.
I think the Cloth will go up on the wall later today for inspection and a new point of view.
