The magic feather Project. What is it?
The Magic Feather Project is a collective stitching project focused on creative sharing and giving. The magic feather has been my personal symbol for almost forever. With the idea of making it a symbol of something bigger than just myself, I thought I would share it with you and you in turn might stitch one (at least) and send it to me so I might, in turn, sew a bunch together and put the larger cloth to some charitable use.

PLEASE NOTE: I finished collecting feathers at the end of 2011 for my first project.
I will announce other feather gathering dates later in the year.
I am now gathering stones.

There is a free instructional workshop that will be posted again with the next Gathering.
Keeping track
I have set up a separate page , Gathering Feathers, where I have posted pictures of the feathers I received as well as progress on the project. I set my initial goal at 1000 feathers and received over 700, amazing!
There is also a Facebook page and a Flickr Set which can be viewed as a slide show.
What will happen to the feather cloths?
My target for any charity efforts connected with this project is children. Their well being and education. I may give or donate some of the cloths directly or donate them for auction. We'll see.
So far I have Wendy Golden-Levitt on my list. Her work with children is just amazing. It would be nice to give the kids to have something larger to wrap around themselves. Something magical to keep them safe.
