what if #85: free pieced frames

Framing ....i have been focused on edges lately and i just wondered if (?) the frame could be an interesting theme for a quilt block. each block here is 5" square. i am turning all seams into the frame , figuring that if (?) i quilt only the background, the framing will raise up a bit with the extra padding.

Nice frames. You are right that they'll puff up a bit too, which will emphasize their frame-y ness. :-)

they work great in paper piecing!
You found the weaving! I told in my blog you were the inspiration. You are inspiring many people with this. Calamity Kim told me she also tried it!

This is an interesting idea. Could be fun to use for a children's quilt of shapes.

frame-y-ness, adding that to my personal quilt dictionary!
good idea for a kids quilt, yes!
