Weaving a whole motif into a ground was one of my original story cloth techniques. For the tree house quilt, the characters were created separately and then woven , whole, into the background so they really seemed to live there. and they still do. This beast was an embellished cut out, a double layer ragged shape, simply woven into a printed floral. Any fussy cut can work too. You can get interesting effects weaving one print into another.
