some fun using existing print fragments to piece together the first of many friendly owls. a combination of ragged and regular applique and a first test for outlined applique (top) which i will detail later. i have basted the ground fabric to another lightweight layer. just to give it stability but not too much weight, i'll cut the owl out before stitching to the quilt . or maybe weave him in as an intergrated applique. not sure yet. maybe overtint a little to bring the color down.....WHOOOOOO knows.
i am liking the way he is pieced together from botanical parts. leaves and petals, he is the forest.....
