i had in my mind to try variegated embroidery floss to make the stitches seem faded and old. it looks nice but it would be good if i had more choices of colors. it works well when part of the thread is the exact same color as the background so it disappears once in a while. now that i have seen the effect i have thought to myself, why not just paint the thread with the right colors? i can also then control the length of the color sections, which are always a little too long for me. so i will play with that idea a little and also over dye the colors in dmc i have that i don't like too much. for the front i have some indigo yarn and i will use some bleach on it to create some shaded effects.
