pink silk patches, shaped like hearts, are being darned to the back of the existing tears to support the obvious stress points before the actual patching and lining.an extra inside layer, they will not be seen. (until the spot wears again when it will reveal the soft pink insides) i hope kim will not mind that i used some small pieces of the pink silk she sent me for such a purpose, the fabric is just perfect. this is an important step in this process. i want the garment to be healed properly. from the inside out. my experience is silk is strong and soft at the same time. the inner patches are stitched darning style through to the front which will eventually be over patched with something decorative. and the lining, which i have not chosen will cover the silk from the inside. it was important to keep this patching flat and integrate it with the torn surface without any pulling. i stitched flat from the back, on my lap with a magazine between my knees and the sewing .
while i am filling the holes i will dream about a lining.
