when you are inspired to do something, it is helpful to slow down and understand the thought behind it. catching the thought allows you to contain the spirit of that moment and try to communicate it. i have spent much time in my life admiring fabric and mostly old fabric, old textiles and fabric making techniques. i have also spent much time rejecting new fashion and technology mostly for the speed at which they move, the shallowness of idea and the detail that is lost because of it. yet...to be creative you must combine your knowledge and your love with the context of your own time and try to produce something new as a result.
there are some very old fabrics being recycled here. i have left the holes and stains in as evidence. i am going to use some computer printing to produce some additional fabrics for the details. maybe print an old design on a new cloth. and i used the sewing machine to free piece this base. very quickly. i continue to search for a path between old and new to find meaning in where i am, what i do and where i am going.
