.....i received a sympathy card after the death of my father and on it was scribbled, 'remember the good times'... i suppose when we are asked to remember, we tend to capsulize the good things, the things we miss, giving them more focus, almost removing them from their original setting. taking sharon's february challenge a bit further than the scrapbook approach, i have been focusing on how we remember. i am thinking memories are often fragmented, faded, dreamlike, fragile, holes in the present, torn from the past, rewoven, transpaent, coming apart at the seams, imagined, improved, missing things, without detail. convenient. out of context.
continuing on this what if...and how things seem seam...
each individual block in my TIF patchwork addresses my questions about memory. i spent some time outside hanging strings of thoughts on bare branches, just to see them in a new light. it is times like these that it is good to have a lot of space and not to many gossiping neighbors.
