quilting the game of life

.....i have joined the memory strips together, with some basic embellishment. the rest of the details come later. since the theme here has to do with mind games, i am playing with the checkerboard design. the little red patch is embroidered , counted thread...to look woven. i like the effect and will expand on it some other time.
.....i was after a game board design...and would have made this square but i decided to mount it on a double layer of old linen napkins. i needed to keep the piece smaller than planned to keep an even border. i left one row off. i have begun quilting.
