....i hadn't really planned to expose the batting fabric. i had just grabbed a scrap of matelasse (a fabric that uses stuffer threads and is woven to look quilted) to use as a stabilzer for the embroidered doodle. i cut through my top layer to add texture and i am really loving this white against white effect. i have a small collection of different matelasse samples somewhere. i think i will play around with the concept further.
things seem rather clear now and i would say that this doodle is just about complete...until it turns up in another project somewhere. that little vintage tic tac toe print was cut from an antique fabric in my private collection. isn't it great?
