on the road again....the theme of the journey has always been prominent in my cloth making. it weaves together my love of fabric with the treasure hunt for scraps and the slow step by step process of life and stitch..
....i am continuing with the shisha cloth this morning, intrigued by the shine and the concept of reflection as a design element and also as a metaphor for story cloth itself. i have bordered that indian style patchwork with the first mirror fabric trial. it seems to fit historically as well as conceptually in my journey to reinvent tradition.
....and i have a detail here of a fabric brought back from indonesia which contains some reflective elements in the sequins and thread but also an interesting woven embroidery detail that has me looking back at my weaving roots, a story i have needed to tie into my work for a long time.
...and to top it all off, dijanne cevaal's marvelous traveler's blanket. a true spirit cloth which i love too much for words. she has some story to go with it so please rush over to read. my heart is beating to fast.
