crazy order is coming together in unexpected ways. sometimes when i try to define my style i feel unsure of how to describe it. i feel like i am sitting between things. somewhere between art and craft, between traditional and contemporary. and so for this piece i have chosen to insert some of the original patchwork i did when i first started sewing. to see how different aspects of my work fit together in some sort of time warp. where do they meet and connect? i think this will max out at about 18" square as a lot of my pieces do on their own. i don't know why. it doesn't matter really.
the fabric at the top is a handwoven wool paisley jacquard from my grandmother that has become moth eaten, but i have loved it for so long i just had to add it as an edge. all the elements here are representative of some time period in my life related to my work. symbols but real things at the same time. lining up in new ways.
thank you for all the wonderful comments lately. i am spending a lot of time offline. stitching and thinking and changing my mind about things. playing with shadows and the crazy order of my life. not much time left for typing.
