i can't get away from silk velvet these days. especially because of its potential to change dark into light. it's nature is to create some sort of illusion. so velvet is definitely to be included in my bag of tricks for magic. this gorgeous dark beauty was hand dyed by diane cransac, i picked it up in her etsy shop here... i LOVE it! it is magic and has inspired me because of its contrast to some more traditional dark and light formed by the checkerboard nine patch. it is black but not black... a little bit about that here...
the illusion of contrast theme is really at the core of this project. i let the indigo and black and white touch. they marry well. now i am looking at this traditional start as floating in something more free form. i am just dreaming of how that can be. taking pictures is a great way to play with combining elements. to imagine with out trapping your thoughts in any concrete way. to catch thoughts for later.
