magic has begun. like most things it has started as something very small. i plan to document this one in a very detailed manner. but for now, let's just say that it has started with something simple like black and white, like little squares, like a nine patch. i think process is a magical thing. it is how we learn and how we grow. it is how we imagine and how we share who we are, where we can meet. it is our story. it might be the most intimate part of what shapes us. it is definitely how we might continue. so in some ways this cloth is meant to be a magic carpet... and is meant to symbolize the thrill of a new journey and the potential of the unknown.
putting things into words has always been difficult for me. i was very shy as a child, and always unable to speak with comfort. i still find it interesting that when i am put on the spot, i don't always produce the most eloquent answers to questions and often find myself at a loss for words... but at least i have learned the ease in accepting what i say as what i think....and that usually leads me to something coherent. ha!
i recently did a Save our Stories interview for of The Alliance of American Quilts/ Quilter's S.O.S. a big thank you goes to Karen Musgrave for the patience it took to get this done and the honor and chance to add my story to this marvelous collection. i was # 1046! ...the interview is online and you can read it here.
