gosh, it felt like the arctic this morning. all grey and glazed over. i dream of spring. and, despite the cold, the birds are already singing about it. reassuring me.
...i decided to work on those square trees. i added a bit of prewashed/felted wool as a backing. what a pleasure, quilting though the cotton into wool. very warm and fuzzy. a lovely cloth, one layer of wool changes it so much.
and leaves, adding some leaves in anticipation of a new season. i feel warmer already.
...i am working with my tiny scraps. the greenish ones, i kind of fussy draw before fussy cutting to frame out the area i want to use. i just needle turn so that line disappears under the needle.
sometimes when i look at trees growing next to each other i think of how long they have been standing there together. how many seasons they have shared. it's a long standing relationship.
...to add to today's warmth i want to share a few naturally dyed fabrics i purchased from cathy cullis. she has a few scrap packs for sale in her shop. they are really lovely, packaged with care and with notes of how they were dyed. like gifts really. they bring a warmth, the same as i always find in all her work. i have put her on my supplier list, because i know i will be using these in my work.
i am rambling a bit here i guess, rambling is like have a conversation with your self. enjoying the warmth of your own company.
and by the way thanks for the warm welcome back form my internet crash. i am still catching up.
