according to the news, this is the big one. it has been snowing for a few hours and the ground is again blanketed with white. the dye pot still sits outside, frozen once again. like a little bit of color . resting.
i have been sorting through the white scrap... and i uncovered this appropriately patterned cloth. like newly fallen snow flakes ...a real woven swiss dot, not the kind that has been flocked. no glue here. loose white cotton woven in and clipped later. a clip spot. a fabric decorated with small woven spots of extra warp or filling
yarn-the floating threads between the spots being clipped or sheared in
finishing. also known as a clip dot... not made much any more because of the speed of machinery. slow woven cloth is rare these days. i used to design this kind of thing until the mill i worked for got rid of the narrow dobby looms. because they were too slow. too old. too bad.
a very blustery day it is. the doors are done after a week of backbreaking work. but appreciated more for the time it took. it will snow all day and into the night. upgraded to a blizzard, this storm will pack a punch. the wind just kicked up big time. it is singing and the trees ARE dancing. yes.
