...magic clouds amaze me. what a pattern. and on silk?.... i might get lost in it. the picture just cannot even come close to communicating the nature of this one.
...i am working through a comparison of sheer silk. i love the texture of the open gauze (left), especially the wild fringe from the tear. and i also love the smoothness of the softened organza (right). still i am struggling a bit with the elusiveness lightness of both. each seems to need special attention. i think the gauze, which has a tendency to snag a bit, can be tamed with tiny stitches and works great in art pieces. the organza has greater possibility for more functional pieces and i have a few ideas to try next.
...totally loving the way some order can be found by overlaying a sheer a grid. here, the gauze has really added a grainy texture and color and even some preliminary stitches underneath are showing through. yet softened by the silk coating. i will be elaborating on this in the silk segment of the cloth to cloth class.
...so i might also mention that combining sheer silk with other light weight fabrics works nicely. here a very fine blouse weight cotton lawn. they get along nicely. thin cloth + thin cloth still =s thin cloth...
...meanwhile, love's landscape is coming along as the story continues to take form. silk velvet always confuses the camera...
so yes, today is a silk day... and tomorrow is mother's day.... so have a good weekend, be back monday....
