The "studio" started to expand. I have been using the whole house. A nice relaxed method of working, but sometimes, too much space is not useful. I began to feel diluted. I was gathering too much. More than I could manage. Too much distance between thoughts. Not enough old cloth touching old cloth. So I am compacting a bit. And I am back to the studio, a corner of the house....the back room off the kitchen. I still need to finish the painting, maybe some today because it is cooler. And the floor and the new shelves, didn't happen, doesn't need to happen. It's ok. What ever doesn't fit here....well I will consider it too much....
I am playing with some new storage techniques. I have a lot of small pieces. Jars are working well, especially for the silk scraps... I collected a lot of old glass at one time, finally using it. I like how you can see what's in there. Seeing can be touching.
And little bundles. This is really working well. Tying related scraps with leftover strips from the first cloth to cloth class... can always use them later and the little bundles not only stack up well and stay put, they seem to use the space efficiently....
And the best part....it is like opening little gifts each time I am looking for something. I used to separate fabric by type, like silk, wool, velvet etc. I have now decided to only use color. So off I go to mix it up, pare it down and just make a smaller rainbow.
