I am having so much fun with this one. Just playing with the face idea. It is turning into one of those stitched fragments that just happens as I go. One of those pieces that is what it will become using thread and scrap on hand as it falls together. It has taken on the mood of Halloween, A masquerade party. A celebration of appearances. I added the strings of the mask to make it more obvious that the grotesqueness might just be for show, but also to make the onlooker wonder what is underneath. Or to remind one of the underneath. This reminder might soften the fear of the unfamiliar, I thought... (and maybe even bring world peace) I love the idea of the mask. And the play between inner and outer. I am always interested in how a face is an opportunity to express or confuse inner being and evolution...
...whether intentional or unintentional.
I think I can put mask in the points and protrusion category (my theme for next year) . It does so often change the boundaries, It can reach out and grab you. Now I think I will work on making the nose look a a bit less like a penis. That was not intentional. Oh ha! A little comic relief is good for the soul.
