poem for a monday at the end of february:

an eye

can cry

without knowing why.

sigh.

cloth looking back

I am sitting with larger cloth. coma. coma has many eyes. i think about stillness, the kind that can't speak. at least the kind we can't hear. or utter.  the voice of eyes is another language. 

like stitch. there is a scream in here.

looking is a big part of making.

sunshine

the little solstice cloth is complete. it reminds me of so many things. 

the sun is the eye of winter i think.

the rains have come  and i feel spring in my bones.

this cloth reminds me of dad.  i remember his last words as...life is beautiful.  he loved to just walk the beach on a sunny day.  with the sun on his back.  that was his goal.  this is his favorite song.  and although it was never mine, nowadays it always makes me cry.

 

this cloth will stay here with me. it will seed my dream catcher series and the beginning of not selling.  big cloth that will start very small.

through winter

i have to say that the curtains , that winter theater, let me do it...set the stage for the last act for this one...

...it transformed into something that, quite frankly, astounds me. (being astounded is such a personal triumph) it has spaces... lots of them. or just space. which almost protrudes into my sense of construction. i need this space as an important new component. this one, well, it weighs nothing. but it is strong.

...it has so many things, but the one thing, the heart that resulted from trying to cut a velvet applique from the surface and the stitches would not let go... the spot that seemed to ruin everything... a heart's remains...is everything. 

 

the velvet tear that became a tree is a small scrap form mom's favorite suit. she loves green, especially olive green.

one way to make things bigger is to put a bit of space between the elements. i like how this changes my awareness of the arrangement. the components of the design.

what if this could symbolize new order?

renewed focus on cloth as shelter

maybe larger cloth. back to it. cloth shelter. honor the fire inside. dream catchers, keepers of cloth and human spirit. realizing the power of many small things coming together.
