Maybe it was coming home and feeling everything was just as I left it and then realizing Not, but still it's home. I returned to the ring thing, which at first was a fairly clean idea of shape and the place it keeps. And then its connection to the moon image, which changed it into a series of moments, many moons, maybe a row of rings to mark space and time...
And then perhaps a ring of moons, to do the same. But now it is something else. I want the ring be patterned by shift, or to let the ring itself become a pattern born of shift. Returning, like a moon over and over but never to the same exact place. Like things really are. Appreciating the space that separates us from being sure. One ring on top of another ,but not really, in a perfect pattern of imperfection. A ring that marks many places at once but still marks a familiar place. As if all places might become familiar.
The thing, Shape, is just a slice of time. The illusion of standing still.
I learn this by Just Going.
The indigo vat is in fermentation heaven. I am dyeing over an old accidentally composted sheet, because I have read that indigo can extend the life of cloth. I'll keep you posted.
Just noticing how many moons I have accumulated to weave across. I will be very busy this winter.
The indigo grew quite nicely, without any help from me.
It is August and it is still very hot, and very wet.
Note:
All my indigo dyeing has been inspired by the generous teachings of Glennis Dolce. A good teacher is a gift for life. Acknowledgement and continuing is a way to give back.
Thank you Glennis for expanding my vision
