The yellow shirt and seeds

 

 The yellow shirt   has served me well this summer.  After many washings, it certainly has proved that  mending is a useful and beautiful  thing.   I am so excited that some new thin spots have emerged  in the old linen during summer's wear.  So I can keep going.   Since some of you have asked, yes,  after a bit of remastering, Contemporary Boro 2  will be available as a work on your own class.   Based on a previous workshop,  this class  is focused on clothing, personal adornment and making/mending useful cloth items, with attention to thrift, recycling, common sense, personal expression, making do and problem solving.   And a simple stitch.  

This week, I have harvested many seeds from this year's indigo.  Many seeds.

Space

 

After filling this space with space (over at 101)  I got to thinking about space, and I think I will leave myself some space here for a while.  And you too.   See you later.

Time again to be Wrapped in Cloth.
Reminder to self... put the needle down and chop wood.

And plant Garlic.

 

Finding

The nice thing about a pile of scraps is that you keep finding little pieces of self that you forgot about.  And you get to give them another chance.

Cloth is like self.

That's it.

Into September again

The storm brought the change.  

It is not Summer any more. 

Time to chop wood. 

Also time to retire the RING,  and replace it with the WING.  

But really, just  time for another layer of thought.

Because that's what we do.

They are heavy with season. With tornado warnings and building wind speed, I am rather sure they will fall before morning.

Gatekeeping

Although this is not the Magic Feather Cloth, being the back detail of the bird robe, I have on my mind today, the  amulet quality that is contained in the history of decorative detail.   The peace in symmetry.  The safety in personal space.  And that is all really.   Except maybe birds  and their relationship to feathers.  I guess this is just a journal entry.  One that might continue  on cloth. 

 

Please excuse me if I am not visiting and commenting around the web.   I am a bit stretched right now .

And while we are on the subject.    If you are afraid of spam,  may I suggest  that you consider  making the comments on your blog  subject to approval  before publishing rather than to use that oh so annoying  captcha  thing,  you know the one, that mysterious set of numbers and letters all squished together that you might spend hours  trying to get right before you can comment on someone else's blog.    I  for one,  am taking a stand and I will pass commenting by when I find  myself   caught in that loop.    It takes  the conversation right out of the process for me.    Can you imagine if (and you never know) , if  they figure out how to do this in real life?   Expect a lot of broken threads.
