What drew me into the studio? Out of the room we are heating for the winter. Was it the light? Sunshine!. Thank you I said to myself. The morning mist sucked it up. As if each droplet of mist rising was filled to the brim with morning. Singing. Blinding but then not. A different sense of seeing.
This kind of light can make the horizon disappear. Soften hard edges. It opens something in me.
The path so familiar, now open-ended.
And then. Knowing it was the beast I must have sensed? . So rarely seen here. Captured by light. Just like me. Sunshine...I imagined it said to itself. Thank you!
And there I was. Just there with a camera and a sense of what drew me through this cold room toward morning. It all happened in such a flurry. The neighbors down below. Well we don't get along. They are quite rich and manicured and well nasty about my lack of landscaping. Me, not so fond of the over abundance of theirs. Not so nice words have been exchanged. As I snapped the picture I heard an excited cry..." Do you see the deer?".
"Yes!!!"
"Wow, beautiful!"
He walked a few steps closer. He smiled. I smiled. Ok then. The beast. Common ground. Sense.
