It's been hot. It's hot sleeping. The loft is really the attic opened up. No air conditioning so all the heat is up there. It usually cools down by midnight but it depends on the wind from the sea.
I'll sleep downstairs these next few days. As the dangerous combination of high humidity and heat move in.
Right below on the wall. Holding Pattern. (There is a category for that)
Holding patiently.
And a quick decision. A few actually. It's reached a size where I would like to start backing it. While I can still get to the center easily. I'm thinking silk, I've been wanting to try that. Silk is light and warm. Maybe a thin stabilizing layer first? Something also weightless. And then, to continue. With all this sea floating I wandered, floating back in time. This quilt is for my son. I remember the one I made for him. The first one. 1978. The floating square pattern. Yes, that's how to continue.
Another Holding ceremony. Just a little study to get the feel of it again. (quite beautiful as is) This time I will use the moon components as the floating element. Some sort of floating timekeepers. And I will loosen it up a bit. Of course I will also break up the larger areas as needed to use up the small scrap I have here. The same will apply for the silk on the other side. And the thin in between. Because that is the way it is goes here.
So the outer ring of this cloth will be about floating. Being the healing thing that it has become for me. The cloth will carry that.
Note to Self:Dreaming is like floating, I just said that to myself. Like being held in between.
