Nine as a Cross(roads).
I could say many things about this. Many things about each square. Maybe later. Right now I am looking at the form.
This is another corner for Holding Pattern. Where the rings of new space change direction. So the sense of holding can continue. In the regular alternating light and dark nine patch there is no real direction. In this configuration there is choice as I see it. Both configurations have center though. And that is another thing I like about the nine(lives)patch. Pattern is so much about light and dark. And alignment.
Each little square has a story as well. For me that is the spirit of the thing because it imparts a kind of life. The bits of cloth and my relationship to them. The basis of Patchwork is building, holding. And making do. And making do is personal. Sometimes even about letting go. Going is about that. Each scrap is a small journey. Scraps of self. And the conscious effort to piece things together brings a sense of becoming whole and useful again and again.
