It's not the snow really.
The snow was ok. Even though we are snowed in. That is always beautiful.
It's the ongoing cold.
It was a lot of work managing the day yesterday. The boiler (which we use mainly in the coldest weather to keep the pipes from freezing) broke down around noon. Thankfully, the man here figured it out and all is well. Pipes frozen. Not good. So it is cold enough not to be relaxing here really. Digging out will be brutal as the temps remain in the single digits with wind chill on top of that. And we are not really spring chickens. At least we are two. I love us for that.
So I don't want to get ahead of myself here, sharing technique. There will be no real time for much in terms of audio or video till we warm up next week.
Just to say, regarding the piece above, which has now been in the dye po(e)t and under the needle a bit...
It looks pieced but it is not...created back in a workshop I called Whispering White, the content not yet released for Feel Free. I was considering white as a blank page (a base) and I wrote:
"I crushed some lightweight cotton cloth down against another white background cloth. Let it sit damp and squished between two boards overnight. I suppose you could use an iron, but hey, who is in a hurry here? And my electric bill is high enough.
Crumpled cotton lawn on some old cotton sheet. Now I will just invisibly stitch it there. Looks good with light coming through as well.
This thought then is just about creating a cloth to start with. Not composing so much, just creating a blank page(or not just a blank page). Even if it takes some time."
And here I am. Glad to have had that not just a blank page. I'll work with it for a while.
