It was just before bed.
I put a circle in the (not quite) center of the old circle expanding cloth. I traced a dime.

But I needed it to be nine. And as I filled in the black and white, I accidentally reversed my normal arrangement. Usually the the black is 5 squares and the white 4. Leaving the center dark. I paused in process and saw an eye. And I liked it. The eye in nine. Off center like that. I'm filling in the circle but changed the contrast level on the remaining areas to keep the eye more obvious.

I began to play with this round nine on paper and the eye idea. Loving again the little units that become symbols for me. How they form. Looking up to the wall where one of my first loose pages rests. I took it down. This page where the small unit of meaning began. I hugged it. And now we are talking. As if 50 years ago was just yesterday.
