Day 11

Good Morning,

Soul-o likes the ledge that tops the half wall that looks down into the FireRoom. He is watching for the deer.

This part of the split level arrangement I like too.

The ledge begins soon after the sitting table area, which is a little box that juts out from the side of the house. 

Any way, while sitting, there is another eye level for hanging.

I hung Lightning Woman. Woman Series. Resting. I just basted her to get the pins out.

Then zing, just a drawing over the photo, to catch that thought.

I think I might stitch on her today. Busy weekend, so won't be back till Monday.

Temporary Garden I guess.

The bathroom window is tiny but gets Big Sun in the afternoon.

There is a tree outside the front door. 

It was so overgrown it was impossible to walk up the front steps. The folks who lived here before drove directly into the garage and came in through the garage into the house. I assumed the tree was a dogwood, but never really looked closely until we trimmed it back. Then, Magnolia was my guess. I placed a lot of the cut branches in water, because there were buds. 

This Morning.

It's a Big Ol' Tree with many buds and the winter has been mild so I guess the buds will survive.

Day 8

 

And So

on a lighter note, a little small cloth, the catnip square. You know, when you have a few 1" puzzle pieces left over... and What if?

It's important for me to be able to lighten up. Laugh. 

Not to be too full of myself.

Day 7

 

A New Sense of personal achievement.

There are 3 bedrooms in this house. One large one and 2 very small ones.  One has my studio tables and a window you need to stand up to look out of.  And then a smaller room with the same sort of window. I envision it to be a guest room if we need one. This room, below.  Just about big enough for a bed. 

And some bigger cloth.

The Small Room. With more wall space than floor space. Reserved for Deeper Cloth. Less has been said about these cloths. But their stories are bigger. Especially in a small room.

Big Cloth in a Small Room.  I sit quietly this morning reconsidering the sharing process. How much my presence online has been about relinquishing ownership. How it came to be that way.  How I know it will always be that way as the Big Art Thing escapes me.  How it is not about that at all. How I have arrived to the Place of Peace with ambition.

Still, a list.

I will host one more round of Patchwork in Perspective, Large Cloth. It will have 2 small parts. And I will wait for Spring. Sign up information to follow.

I will continue to add content to Thought Catching (Patchwork in Perspective, part 1) and I will open that up for late enrollment if you are interested.

I will release a few old classes and add them to the Free Enough section of Feel Free. Just because there is a lot of content there.

I will complete my book. Don't hold your breath.

I will reduce my online presence, specifically blogging, in this my 70th year.

I will host at least one live workshop  once I complete the above list, if I love long enough. Just to come to grips with an old sense of shyness. 

 

 

Day 6 of year 70

Just song for weeks, couldn't see them.

A pair of cardinals showed up. Male and female. They ate the red berries I have no name for.

They didn't stay long but they were back before sunset. Same place. Right outside the porch.

I reconsidered Eye Level. Expanded it so I might squeeze more cloth into the available space.

Here you can see the wall that separates the Kitchen from the Room with the Big Round Table.  A dining room I guess but I will work here. On Big Cloth. On a Big Round Table. There is a small skylight close enough.  You can see my morning sitting area back there. The washer and dryer are there, remember? And Soul-o's sticks and catnip mouse are on the floor. This part of the house has height. Light. There is a small skylight in the Kitchen too. 

I unrolled Nest of Days.  Maybe you remember. Still needs to become larger but already takes up a lot of space.

Wall 2 then. And the Big Table Room that will never be this neat again. In the beginning, back in Centerport, I used to change stuff around almost every day.  That is how it has become here for now. Not deciding, just looking. The Man said, upon waking, “I guess the whole house is the studio then?”

Slow ClothWork

At Eye level... I was thinking. 

So many cloths to be hung, I said to myself, not considered finished. Not including the Sanity Series which needs to remain rolled for the moment. That's a private collection.  My purpose was to look, touch, maybe stitch, and then let go.  Making space for big cloth. Big cloth going forward. 

But now I want to look at all of them. Feel the volume of them. Feel the scope of them. Feel them. Gather their stories. And most importantly, see them as Patches. Puzzle Pieces. I will not have enough space I say. But then there is the basement. And the clothes lines. The ceiling?  Oh ha! Let it all unroll then. The big, the small. All.

It has begun in some organized way, but it will soon fall away into some sort of dervish.

Feels so Good.

I think I will put some music on.

Day 4, another day

 

Warmer.

A lot warmer. Four young females watching the sunrise this morning.

This one. She turned to look at me. For a long time.

I opened the window. Spoke softly. She remained. For a long time.

I feel like she is a stray self. 

I'm unrolling all the work here today. I will put holes in all the walls.  I may not have enough walls. I am surprised at what has accumulated here.  I want to look. Let them look back. For a long time. Softly ask them

Day 3

 

Here I am.

Again.

With the box I put myself in, looking for another way out.

Over the next month I will work on all the existing small works here. Touch them. Let them go, finished or not. I think one final Spirit Cloth Shop update for small stitched works when Spring begins.  I know that once the season changes, I will be outside. Clearing paths. Trying to grasp my new sense of personal space.

Just to clarify, I am now 69. And I have entered into my 70th year on earth. This being Day 3. 

I do not feel particularly physically challenged. I feel good. Strong. It's not difficult for me to continue as I have for so many many years here. But my focus is shifting. I sense that. My thoughts are leading me astray. I am a stray at heart, in that regard.

I We moved to make things easier, especially financially, as we age. We may do that again. But for now we feel free enough to change our minds. I do not miss the old place. I thought I would. But Poof, it's just another day.  What else is there?

Thank you for your warm Birthday wishes. It was a quiet day with a bit too much food.

And a bit of mending in between.
