To some, a name might be a plan.
And to others a name might be a finishing touch.
For me a name is often a moment keeper.
Shape shifting in the Wind might work. For now.
I added some natural fray from a few old scraps of self to build out the lower right corner. Again to accentuate a lean. Again the light was low and the photo a bit fuzzy. I like that too. The uncertainty. I will work on the face a bit more today. It's raining and dark. And way too warm for February. I'm not sure if the sun will come out.
This is the room on the low level, right above the crawlspace, almost on the ground. It's the coldest room and we need a better woodstove. An old insert fireplace is what you see. Rain leaks into the chimney which need to be recapped. But when there is a fire, the whole house heats up, because there is a fan and the heat rises. Quite amazing actually. Dad's paintings have helped me feel at home. There was a lot of wood stacked under the deck/porch which we are still using. A fire most evenings. We had a new gas furnace installed when we moved in so we are not relying on wood. Spent some money but it is efficient, a conventional improvement, and seriously quite inexpensive to stay warm. It is really meant to be a back up for the geothermal/solar that we would like to put here. (burning wood is so bad for the air). A bigger but sensible investment. The question is will we stay forever or is this a step to somewhere else. This is a Big Question. It will take a little more time to answer it. Peace of mind has become a bigger priority than adventure at this stage of life. I can go anywhere with cloth. And safe and warm should always be enough.
We name rooms.
We just decided to call this the Fire Room.
