Yesterday's wind was wild. Power is out all around us. And we have been spared. Just a few flickers.
Late in the day, the rain (so much rain) stopped, and the wind subsided except for an occasional gust. The constant roar of the storm suddenly went silent. Suddenly Sun.
We decided to walk the property, for the first time actually. All the way to the borders that were marked by the survey we had done before we moved a few months ago.
The house is on high ground and most of the 5 acres is on one side of the house. From up there it seems more of a rough thicket. But we realized that it is quite open and flatter than expected, once you get down the hill.
Many trees are young and leaves on the ground are thinning to reveal a mossy floor. We can make a clearing. It breathes. Lush. Bordered by stone walls.
And there it is, The Water! Popping up here and there and separating us from our neighbors who we have never seen. I think they are summer only folks.
Tomorrow is Wednesday. Perhaps What If (?) Wednesday. We can consider Wednesdays THAT. I am ready to talk about Large Cloth. We are so lucky to be able to Hunker Down...and around. With this Earth like a blanket.
