November Rain

The big transition has begun. A blustery day.

Ushering in cold and the possibility of a bit of snow early next week.

The Japanese Maple is the star of the show at the moment.

Winter is around the corner. I expect most of the leaves to come down with this week's storms.

I've been quiet. A bit blue. Unable to catch my thoughts in words or stitch.

Then. This morning. A dark morning. Without turning on the lights. I sat with this one . Near the big window. So I could see the rain, hear the wind.

I renamed it. The Thread Dancer. It is, an older self. But one that remains focused on building, connection. I spent a lot of time trying to secure the fringe that extends from the woven mask-face.  A bit like trying to catch the wind. I imagined myself as a thread, the thread, and that helped. The position of the fringe kept moving, like the wind, there could be no plan, just going with the energy at hand.

The porch roof, now protected with a tarp, will wait for repair until at least March. Still I think to myself, maybe it could be ok like that forever. A cheaper solution for sure. We'll see.

If you look closer, you might see the birdbox we created by recycling an old mailbox. I will weave a roof from windfall. And grapevine clippings. I make a note to myself, what if I could weave a roof for the porch. Yeah, right...gotta love imagining.

Forever, it takes so long

 

This Cloth.

It has the feel, the look, of those ancient cloths that caught my eye in the pages of books, so long ago.

I can say it took forever to get here. Am I trying to go backwards?  No. I was, am, still going and I think that's just what might happen. Maybe a circle is closing.  The cloth is older, I am older and slower and it is all patched together, holding.

Loose. Loose things.

Loose patches, loose faces, loose thoughts. Loose everything.

I said it, many times, it's all a patchwork, in perspective.

This activity, trying to catch it and put it, hold it together. Just to see, to share what we see.

I'm using October to put some stuff together. Put this place back together. I know I'm hopping from here to there, but still even that carves a path... gives form to the formless path of just going.

So just to say, today, that I think I may have fixed the email subscription for the blog thing.  I put it in the upper right hand corner on the blog. Please note that if you enter your email address, first make sure you typed it correctly. Then make sure you check your email for the confirmation email.  It should come to you fairly quickly. If you do not see it check your spam folder.  You must confirm your subscription. I always see many unconfirmed requests. Also, over time, emailed posts may end up in your spam folder, for whatever reason. Maybe a quirky word or two...unless you mark them not spam they will continue to go there. So if you suddenly stop receiving my mail after a while, do that check. So let's see, I think it will work.  If you are already subscribed you need not do that again.

I've also put a link to Free Enough Classes in the sidebar since Feel Free is down this month for mending. (I will add PatchWork in Perspective after Feel Free reopens since it is hosted there)

Suddenly Older

Not Really.

Older takes a long time. Sometimes the noticing seems sudden.

So much time has even passed since I was working on this. So much time is passing it is even hard for me to go back and reference some of the things I would like to find.  Of course if I wait long enough I won't remember at all and everything will be new!

Somehow line is a really good tool for expressing old. The wrinkle thing. I am playing with expanding that to include breaking up large areas with line style stitch. The visual changes, like a cracking but also the feel of the cloth is grand. I will work a bit on this and talk about it later.

I realize there are commenting issues here. Sorry. Tis what it is.
