Yesterday, after an all night rain.
He is growing up. Big and strong and almost friendly.
Now it is raining, again, like I have never seen. Expected to continue until tomorrow morning.
We need not more rain. Maybe if the porch roof falls in, we will save some money on demolition.
An old dream that was in need of some seasonal adjustment. A scrap of cloth used in The Deep Pool of Thought on the lower left corner. Almost like a question, will snow come early this year?
And this one.
I love it just because it has no real agenda. I just enjoyed it. Has a circus feel, doesn't it? I added scraps of self as they appeared. The curved cloth weaving, I like it and might try something larger with this concept. And the sun will come out eventually, though the garden is taking a beating. There will be work to do and that is how, why, we keep going.
It needs fringe. I'm running low and will have to make some soon.
I lost this post twice already, let's try again...

Oh ha!
Now I feel like I'm back.
I looked at these pics here on the blog and it felt like home. Again. It took the worry out of Eventually. If you look closely. She's dusty. The spirit of slow going had become dusty! This is all from way back , when I began blogging. For those who don't remember. Possibly even before (I think I can say if it's ok...) slow stitch was even buzzing. Yup, back then there were mostly bees.
I caught a bee and it's shadow on the rail yesterday.
I've begun a slow weaving into. Mo's pennant project.
Thin silk into thin silk.
Cut and repair.
Mend the despair.
(You might find more about the possibilities of "weaving into" in the Cloth Weaving class listed under the Feel Free Classroom in the right sidebar here on the blog. Here. At least for now until the Feel Free site re-opens soon enough. As always I thank you all for your kind support, sometimes I cannot get through to your paypal emails to give you a big hug.)

Cloth Weaving with plant dyed scrap.
Dyed here. This place.
A kind of Home Base then. For the shop. And then not. Because it became a place to be for a while.
Nine. Nine dujour. I think it's a habit work keeping.
Dots. Like an excavation. This is turned reverse applique which you find in the Applique Lesson of Spirit Cloth 101. Here.
Cloth Weaving makes the the layering element(a kind of alignment) in the weaving process more apparent. When you weave with thread or yarn it is hard to notice how it is the process of appearing and disappearing that creates the structure as well as the pattern possibility, the magic. And with the cloth method, the layers can be manipulated in a different way. I like this built in layering of cloth. Being able to sense it, it lures me into playing with it. There is new form always waiting when a technique is reconsidered.
I have a bit of work to do, to put the process index back on track for Feel Free. But it will be ok. Just tweaking things and keeping it more simple and less ambitious (that disease that has to be kept in check). The Feel Free site will be back up in a month or so. As simply a methods index. A Glossary. Just to make things easier to find. I'm sorry, this stuff takes a while to settle. And again thanks for kind donations to those folks that I never seem to find by responding through Paypal. Love you all.

Surprise at the mailbox!
...'tis the season, I know, but gifts arrived in the mail yesterday.
It's been warm again. No fires. Yesterday there was some leaf raking. And then some quiet stitching before bed.
This is the 4th corner on the new found space ring on Holding Pattern. Oh! How that little nine was woven right into one of the small squares at the bottom of the basket. It now holds pattern in a new way. Hadn't thought about it in that context before. Can you imagine a whole blanket with this concept? What if....? Some days are more surprising than others. Suddenly Eventually, with a slight change in direction, I find myself filled with new dreams. Based on old ones.

Good Morning.
So, way back when, in 2012, Spirit Cloth Diaries, I had continued...
There are many things in process that I would like to get back to. And I will, but today I am just playing with a new component...the component method of cloth making is key to my style but also to my sense of continuing. I like to develop symbols, units of meaning. I like to do a lot of them, keeping the thought in the back of my mind and going. Not worrying if there is art in it, just blowing it apart little by little, letting it morph, evolve sympathetically with my aesthetic. Then I put all of it back together somehow, as a series or a puzzle. Some how the pieces fit together again but they generate new form. Changed.
I want to draw it stitch it, piece it, patch it, and dye it. I am think about how the limitations/ potentials of a medium/technique might affect my direction with a design.
This morning I asked myself, where was the "weave it", what if???
Notes to self: Transformation might seem cosmetic but it moves through you. The third dimension of alignment is often overlooked. And cutting into is often feared.

It Rained.
But it stopped mid afternoon.
It rained this much, a long slow drizzle that started before dawn. I spent a few hours outside and found a huge colony of ground bees nesting next to the old compost pile. So many that I could hear them buzzing. Most folks around here exterminate them. I love them. I love that they are solitary bees but live in a community close by to one another. That they are peaceful and go about their business. Sometimes they bump into me. I hope it is because I seem like a flower.
I tidied the squares of earth. I added flow. I stitched a bit. Accentuating the the thing that stands, the structure, the shelter that is now grounded in movement often gone unnoticed. And now I am accentuating the the thing that moves through it. The open heart(h). It's swell that the center is a nine(lives)patch.
Today my brother and the love of his life Julio are tying the knot. To build a longer thread. We will go to the old sea, the ocean, where we released our parent's ashes. Just a few of us. And the day will be like a candle in these dark days where all love seems challenged. And we will not be Lemmings.

I made this block to show you how I started the center of Endless Wishing.
The method for building the center "woven patchwork" motif.
There is no reason for me to do the same thing again.
The concept is the same.
The mosaic can also be a base for further collage, tucked in or not. It was Nancy's comment on the last post, about heart house, that led me here. Gave it context. Story. Perhaps I might create a roof with a field of stitch? The way I created the star points on Endless Wishing. Can you imagine that working? I wish I might count the way I've been nourished by all your comments here.
The rain has stopped and there is still more shit to shovel. I'm up for it.
