March tease

Almost 70. Yesterday. Ha, like me!

Rain, sun, wind, fog. No snow. That's coming next along with cold.

The Japanese Andromeda bloomed. Must have been overnight. Reminding me that life goes on even when it doesn't. New York, they say, now has 40% of all cases in the country. The car won't start, even after replacing the battery. The small repair shop within walking distance, a loooong walk, is thankfully still open. We'll see. 

I saw my first groundhog this morning. He comes to eat the kitchen scraps I dump in the compost. I haven't rigged up anything official yet in terms of a bin. 

I have nothing to show you today, and I have not done a video test yet, but pop over to Shibori Girl Studios. Glennis has set up a page for Moon Making Videos, some how to for all you indigo lovers. I know a lot of you have asked about the process and I don't really teach that... And if you are learning something and enjoying her gift, please consider dropping a few coins in her basket, there is a donation link in her sidebar. Things are tough, more so for some than others, especially those who rely on small business that has all but dried up in this crisis. Every little bit helps. So Ragmates, the audio seems to work as is, and video is just a matter of getting my ass in gear. I will begin soon. With no plan, no agenda, just going. Here, where the group is more likely to be smaller, more intimate. Safe. More like simpler times. I will ratchet down a few details over the weekend because all I know now is:

Considering Confusion

These are notes from Yesterday.

The day I thought I would begin (re)Considering wings.

But I was confused.

This morning I am simply laughing.

In September of 2012. Yes, that long ago. I began the Spirit Cloth Diaries. Six months of Just Going. Like a class but really, more.  The content of the Diary Series, which ended up to be more than 1, is huge as I look back.  I began by considering Wings which I want to continue. Here.  But I'm laughing because as I emerged from my cloud this morning, ("I really don't know clouds at all"-Joni Mitchell) and I went to listen to the first audio in the series. And, well, you listen...

I had included the photo of myself , because I liked how it was cropped to include the moon and how my eyes and my glasses and that moon, seemed to form some sort of continuous environment. A place where things collide into consciousness. I realized something over the years. It is only through doing and doing again without expectation or judgement, that I can invent or go forward.

 

So ok. confused. So what.

Perhaps confusion is just being in between this and that?

Tomorrow wings. Again.

Or however it goes.

 

 

Butterfly Self

Reconsidering Wings, Reach.

 

I step back for a moment. 2013. Spirit Cloth Diaries.

Here I was diagramming thought.  And delving into Butterfly Self.  The Basket self holds many selves.

I am revisiting them.  Basket Self evolved to hold them.  These often times Loose Selves. To create a safe place for them to get to know each other. To reassure each other.  To hide.  Become. To prepare for more Small Journeys.

The Diary Series. There were several.  They have not been  released as part of Feel Free.  They were very personal and expansive in terms of Considering.  As I  go back, I am aware of the deep content there.  Much of the technique and design evolution there can be indexed. Useful to my efforts to expand  my open teaching project.  But I look at the units as a whole.  How wonderful it is to have them like that.  To revisit days as they went. Mostly though, so many ideas that might be expanded upon.  We are limitless.

I have a big job in front of me. To contain all of this in a useful way.

I think there are 2 main categories.  One being Technique. The other being Creative Thought, Design.

How might they feed each other?  How might I be able We be able to encourage that?

I've made a some notes to self this morning.  About reach.  How I envision that.  How big it can become. But how keeping things within reach is also part of making things useful.  Considering all of  this before getting too far and having regrets.  Knowing the limits of effectiveness.  Thank you all for your patience through this process.  I have to take my time.

I will not release the Diaries  as a unit for free.  I will offer them up against donations, all in good time.

This project has taken on new meaning in these sad days of small thinking and self serving endeavor.

Winter continues

We are lucky enough to  open our eyes to this in the morning.   In February, cold as it is... a privilege  to witness  morning,  every morning in fact.   With a view.    Another unseen frosting of snow last night.  But with the dawn, it was obvious the sun  would be out today.   And the snow would be sneaking away  soon. 

I caught it.  That secret snow.  In between.   Retreating .  On the old patio.     A patchwork of old slate.

 

And I am content  today, knowing that I caught  the thought  from yesterday in stitch.   A little what- if- i- do that?  While I can...

 

The truth is, life has changed.  As it does.  And I have some new things to tend to.   And  I am mending   plans to fit.   Because that is what we do.    The nature of mending  is to never really to  be done.   It is Just to keep Going,  patching here and there,  carefully renewing  to maintain  usefulness.   Knowing there is a beauty in that.   Accepting that as enough.  

I want to keep teaching.  Because I have a sense that it is a way for me to be useful.  I have consolidated my future teaching plans into One  Thing.   The What If Series.  This includes What If Diaries (6 months- interactive) , the What If Mini Series ( smaller focus-work on your own) and the What If blog.    Spirit Cloth Diaries part 1, is coming to a close in a couple of weeks.   Part 2 (which would normally continue from part 1)  has become  the What If Diaries #1.   A slightly different format allowing for smaller multiple focus units.  A patchwork of little questions and answers and how they might become something more.   Because they do.

So.

 What If Diaries is a stand alone 6 month chunk of  What-Iffing.  You might work along with me, work on your own, subscribe any time, whatever.  Recorded as I go with  the option to participate in a forum ( not mandatory).  #1 is scheduled to start in March and run through August.

The What If Mini Series - stand alone focused units available through the What If blog  (sidebar) which will directly tie into my wanderings.   

All my existing classes will remain available as work on your own.  Access to class materials is Forever. I love saying that.   If you are a newcomer, may I suggest  101 as an introduction?   A little of everything including my philosophy.

 

Please note, that over the next 3 week I will be living at Mom's, leaving the Man behind to keep the fire going.   I may have to adjust the start date  for all of this a bit, depending on how it goes.   I am aiming for March 1.  
All of this will begin to grow into something cohesive with Spring, for sure.  Like things do.

More wind

With gusts at 65 mph early this morning,  we huddled in the memory of the last storm.   Wind in the dark.   The song of the wind has changed  as it moves Across the water.  And then unobstructed   by missing trees.    There is more of  a warning of its coming.   Luckily only parts of trees have fallen here this time.   

I have placed a new wind catcher on the back of the Wind robe.    An ancient  wiser fringe.    I have renamed this  robe, that Dances in Sympathy with Wind,  Across and Through.  It moves  with it.

I will not be saying much here and around the web for most of February.  Taking care of Mom,  finishing part 1 of Diaries,  and this robe  among other things.      Things are a bit confused at the moment,  but with Spring will come that seasonal clarity.   New beginnings.
