I've got my attention turned toward my new and final sharing series for the moment.  Content here is thin and comments are off  until I settle in and regain my balance...

Why it's worth it.

The sharing. It works both ways.  Karen, who had recently purchased a few threadcrumbs from the shop shared a little story (how I love stories) about the work she does. She runs a non-profit company that works with a special group of young adults. You can check them out here…

I was kindly given permission to show the photos here. I just had to share the beautiful smiles and cloth.

So with a few loose dyed patches, a shirt worn down to almost bare thread, some silk received as wrapping on a recent birthday gift and red denim which had been saved from years back, they made this! 

Gosh, it's so great to see this.

Considering Composition and Construction

 

Composition (idea building) and Construction( technique/materials and methods) are obviously linked together.

They limit one another or not. There is so much for me to say about the link between form and technique. I need to gather my thoughts a bit more.

Front and back so far. I just added the flower component and again cut from the back.

The green strip along the bottom is super thin so I will leave the backing behind it.

 

A serious maker soon learns that methods cannot be static if form is to evolve. And although making often seems like magic, if technique is shared openly it all becomes so much more than a bag of tricks. Technique is a story of how it might have happened, how it happened, how it moved through you and how useful that became . Or not. The magic is in the gift of the story. Your truth is your value. No thing can replace that. At least that is what moved through me today.
