Once upon a time, before I could find anyone even working with indigo, I was making do with a simple method of bleach discharge. And I am back to it again for this segment. Before you try this, be aware that bleach is not friendly to protein fibers like wool or silk. This method can be used for cotton or linen quite successfully. This trial is on cotton.

Bleach can react to dyes in funny ways. The indigo will fade to a lighter blue and to almost white if left long enough. But don't overlook other colors. finding one that works well with this technique is quite a treasure hunt. Some dyes react in seconds and can be quite amazing.
Poof!
Of course if you have time on your hands, ( love that expression) you can entertain this method.
Freezer paper can be found in your grocery store in rolls, cheap. The craft version is not necessary, but is a but more sturdy and can be found here or in other craft stores.
