i suppose i was just inspired by this morning's rain, and looking closely at the drops of water on this leaf, how you could see through them and how nice the subtle outline was formed by the shadow. and then i asked myself what if i print the dots from this piece (previously scanned) onto a sheer fabric. and what if i print it over a sheer print?
what do i like about this? i like that when you print on a sheer you get such a soft effect. i like that when you print an image of fabric on fabric you get a ghostly texture as a background. i like how i got to use my original fabric design more than once. i like this a lot.
i ironed the sheer fabric to freezer paper and ran it through an ink jet printer. i prepped the fabric first with bubble jet set 2000. someone gave me a sample of this stuff. it works ok. i find that if you heat set with an iron before washing you get better result. it is available at joann's and other quilting supply places. BUT, i found this home recipe which i will try soon. this piece has been laundered once. i also printed it using nothing to hold the color. the black and yellow remained permanent and most of the other color washed out.
