I choose Indigo to dye blue. But...
This vat has about had it, needs some care, but still getting a bit of color from it. ....
I wet thoroughly and squeezed out the excess before dipping here, but dry dips can be another whole effect. With or without the line the soft edge approach has caught my interest. The dyed instead of pieced patchwork as a potential base, or alteration over existing patchwork. I like the soft edge framing possibilities as well. Combined with the over dye idea, this is quite expansive. I like how the nature of indigo allows both the quick take and the slow build up of color layers for a pattern. And once it is oxidized it does not wash out. I like how the soft edge approach might redefine some more traditional methods. I like how I can dye any natural fiber with indigo. I like that I can grow it if I need to. All I will ever need really. I like how indigo fades as well, but more about that later.
